Searching in patent databases

Before starting your research or before disclosing your invention and preparing a patent application at the latest, we recommend you check the state of the art in publicly accessible patent databases/registers.

Information databases/patent registers

  • ESPACENET (an EPO database with links to national, European and international patent applications/patents)
  • PATENTSCOPE (a WIPO database containing international patent applications or patents with links to related national and regional patent applications; provides access to patent documentation in PCT procedures)
  • EP REGISTER (a database containing European patent applications and patents; provides access to all patent documentation)
  • SIPO-DS (a database containing Slovenian patent applications/patents; provides access to published patent applications and translations of requests relating to validated European patents)
  • Google Patents (U.S. patent applications with links to related PCTs, EPs and national patents)
  • Patent Lens (a database containing patent applications; enables searching through patent families, nucleotide/amino acid sequences, inventors, authors quoted in patents (LifeScience))
